Pittaway Cup the Final! Halesowen had a 2.25 point headstart due to being in a lower division. Their team were strong though and have recently gained promotion to WDCL Div 1. Our team were 5 regular players short so we knew we'd have a battle on our hands. Despite being outgraded Wolverhampton achieved an amazing and historic victory playing Halesowen at Stourbridge.22/04/09 Very well done to our team and acting captain for the night Martin May and also to Captain Mike Townsend for steering Wolverhampton to victory!
Also well done to Halesowen for doing so well and reaching the Pittaway Cup Final.

Peter did a lot for our club such as setting up a Ladder competition and All play all and always sent match results to me the webmaster super quick. Best of luck for the future Peter with your chess endeavors wherever you are. Thank you Peter, you'll be missed.
Paul Walters and on behalf of all club members.
With great sadness I report the news that Peter Thompson resigns his BDCL A team captaincy. Peter did a great job of captaining his A team to become BDCL Div 2 champions 2006/7 and gaining promotion;, a grand and historic accomplishment. Thank you to Peter for being such a fantastic captain. Frank Wood takes over temporarily as BDCL A captain.
Barry Lewis temporarily takes on this role.
