Successes

Summer league : B team : 3 wins 9 points. A team 1 win 3 points.

WDCL A team 7 wins, 1 draw (1 draw against Bushbury became a win when 2 adjournments were won by Peter and Kelvin), 1 loss out of 9, Halesowen 4-1, Kidderminster A, Stourbridge A by 4-1, Stafford A 2-4also draw against Lichfield A. BDCL A team just 1 defeat to, 9 wins, 1 draw. Joint top Div 2. Dudley League team gain their 2nd 4-0 win against Halesowen at home 30/11/06 equalling the Boldmere St Michaels 4-0 scoreline and also win Mercia; C team beat Brewood at home, Walsall Kipping C 3-2 and win Lichfield.C team lose to Brewood in their Away fixture, draw a week later Away at Walsall and win final match of season away playing Halesowen.Our first match in the Cannock league also a win against St Marys. Also our B and C teams both secured match wins 02/11/06 against Mercia C and B in the Dudley and Wolverhampton, WDCL Div 2 respectively.

Both away games for A and C teams in WDCL Divisions 1 and 3 both secure wins on 16/11/06 with identical scorelines of 1½-3½ against Kidderminster and Lichfield respectively.

11/01/07 WDCL B team win Kidderminster B at home 4-1. Well done!

C Team acquired their first match draw 23/11/06 against Stafford without our usual board 1 player but a great win for the C team against Halesowen B pushed our match score to 9 and back up to league position 1 for a while.

Wolverhampton 3 Rushall 1 in WDCL U110 Round 1 and our A team win their first Terril trophy match against Tamworth & District. Well done to all our teams!

Summer League B beat Stafford 3 -2 12/07/07 and so have accumulated 6 points with 1 match to play.

Congratulations to our A team! Victory over Stourbridge A at home 17/04/07 gains us promotion to BDCL Div 1. Now level with Kynoch & Barm on 19 points and due to meet in our final match of the season.The victors will become Division 2 Champions.

It's 23.16 14/05/07 and here's some hot news! Our BDCL Div 2 A team haven't only gained promotion to Div 1 but are also Div 2 Champions as two adjourned games were wins for Wolverhampton 14/05/07. Very Well done everyone! Captain Peter Thompson "I would like to thank everyone for playing so well throughout the season, including the substitutes. In particular.thanks to Dominic for playing in the last few matches. We will be sorry to see you return to Germany. I would like to wish you all the very best for the future.."

Walrus Event: Wolverhampton win Walrus Event 30 April 2007 Rushall Chess Club with 6.5 points. An especially sweet victory after our C team were beaten into 2nd place by the narrowest of margins a few days earlier in the WDCL Lightning event.

WDCL Lightning event 24/04/07 Well done to our A and C team. A team win the Major section, C team almost win the Minor section but achieve 2nd place.

WDCL Div 1 'A' team 2nd place runners up on 15 points.Three teams on 15 points we gain 2nd place on a board count of 19.5 while the league champions score 22.5.

'A' team have done well though and only lost 2 matches. The first loss to West Bromwich Away 05/03/07. Second loss came against Walsall Kipping at home and with this championship status became much harder to achieve.

Tuesdays and Thursday club nights: The club will meet on Tuesdays as well as Thursdays from September 2007 til October 2007 and this may become permanent.

Those who haven't done so already please email with any details you'd like included on a members list even if you only want your name included and or email address. This list will enhance club member communications.

WDCL U110 Round 1 took place 14/11/06 Home to Rushall. Wolverhampton beat Rushall 3-1 and so progress to the next round achieving wins on boards 3 and 4 and drawing on 1 and 2. Full score on Fixtures trophy section. Round 2 was lost playing Away against Halesowen 02/01/07.

BDCL Terrill trophy: Wolverhampton A win their first round tie but lose to Olton C in the second round match played Dec 12 and since decided by 2 drawn adjournments.

Note: Perhaps all members could endeavour to tell their team captains of their availability for forthcoming matches. This will help your captain to fill a place if a player's absent and thus decrease the default board scenario/match rescheduling."
