Successes

Summer league 2006/7: B team : 3 wins 9 points. A team 1 win 3 points.

BDCL A team: Win their first match of the season away play Warley Quinborne. Also beat Kynoch A in a home match 30/10/07 3.5-2.5 where our team initially drew with 2 results pending.20/13/08 An under strength team side played Halesowen at home our A team beat a strong Halesowen team 4-1 with 1 adjournment. 01/04/08 Mike Townsend's adjourned game game against M Staples of Lichfie ldAresult is a draw. So, our BDCL Div 1 A team beat Lichfield A 3.5-2.5. Boards 1 to 5 draw, and Bob Khoshnevis board 6's triumph helps secure the win. Team now have 8 league points from 4 wins. 08/04/08 Shirley & Lucas at home, we are 3-1 up with board 1 and 2 adjourned. So we shall at least draw the match and be elevated to at least 9 points in Div 1, 10 if we have achieve a draw on the top boards. Unfortunately boards 1 and 2 were conceded to Shirley & Lucas but we still draw the match.

BDCL B team: Won their first match of the season with an initial score of 4.5-0.5 pending a board 1 adjudication. Opposition's board 1 resigned so our final match score 5.5-0.5 at home playing Halesowen. Also win their 2nd match 2-4 playing Mutual Circle Away. Draw at home 3-3 playing Mercia 01/11/07. 02/01/08 at Bushbury we gained a 3-2 lead with 1 adjournment. Hence, our B team have at least drew the match. Result pended adjournment.We conceded the point to the home team and thus drew the match. B team won at Walsall, our team managed a 0-5-5.5 victory 10/01/08.17/01/08 At Lichfield match draw 3-3.P Broomhall and B Lewis win, K Bate, P Hubbard achieve draws. 24/01/08 Undefeated on all boards playing at Home against Birmingham, score 4.5-1.5. 25/02/08 S Birmingham are beaten by our team at home. Important fixture as visitors joint top of league. Score 3.5-1.5 with 1 adjournment.03/04/08 Northfield Checkmates are beaten 4-2. Hence escalating us to joint top position in BDCL Div 4..

WDCL A team: Beat West Bromwich 4-2 11/10/07.Draw 3-3 against Bushbury A in a match that was commenced 04/10/07 and result pended on 3 adjournments. 06/11/07 Halesowen A also beaten 1.5-3.5 with 1 adjournment pending. Martin May drew the adjourned game boosting our score to 4 points to Halesowen's 2 points.29/11/07 St George's A beaten with score 4.5-1.5. 03/01/08: A team WDCL Div 1 beat Warley Quinborne A playing Away with 2.5-3.5 score. Stafford played us at home 14/02/08 and we drew on boards 3 and 4, won on board 6. 2 adjournments. Mike Townsend and Frank Wood won their adjourned games on boards 2 and 5 respectively thus winning the match 4-2. Walsall Kipping Away match that began 06/03/08 yielded a 2-2 score. Ali Samanci's and Martin May's games on board 6 and 4 respectively were adjourned. Confirmation of draws for these 2 games as of 26/03/07 means the match is drawn at 3-3.14 points

WDCL B team: Draw their first match of the season away playing Brewood with a 3 - 3 score. 2 draws 2 wins each. 26/11/07 B team draw playing away at Rushall. Draw our Stourbridge B Away match 3-3, 13/02/08.Mercia A match began 27/03/08. Score 2-3 on the night and match depended on Ben Marlow's adjourned game that seemed drawish. Ben won though and so we drew the match.

WDCL C team: 11/10/07 C team draw their 2nd match of the season at home playing Rushall. 2.5 - 2.5 score from a draw on board 3 and wins for us on boards 4 and 5.Draw 2.5-2.5 against Lichfield 01/11/07 at home. Third draw of the season playing Halesowen at Home 29/11//07. Win match 7 against Brewood at home 03/01/08 with 3-2 score. 07/02/08 A Home draw against Mercia B.21/02/08 WDCL Div 3 C team beat Lichfield Away 4.5-0.5 and gain 2 valuable league points. Stafford visit with very strong team 06/03/08 match drawn 2.5-2.5..

Cannock league: Draw against Rugeley 18/10/07. Lichfield beaten in an Away match 14/02/08. 09/04/08. Dra against St Mary's Away.

Dudley League: Win first match of the season 3 -1 at home playing Stourbridge. Also win 2nd match 0-4 playing Kynoch Away. Match 3 another 1 - 3 win playing Hagley Away. Another 4-0 defeating Warley Quinborne 20/12/07. Just in time for Christmas. 15/01/08 4-0 win at Mercia.24/01/08 bring Boldmere St Michael's and we win 4-0 with the visitors defaulting board 4.01/04/08 Dudley league team gain their 7th consecutive match win of the season and their 5th 4-0 score Away at Halesowen.

20/05/08 Wolverhampton B (Summer) beat Halesowen Away, 1-4. Hence winning match 1.

08/05/08 Club AGM took place and lasted a bit longer than usual as a lot was discussed. Many new captaincies and changes of post. Normal club chess nights resume next week.

WDCL Lightning Chess event held at our club 24/04/08

None of our 4 teams won but Paul Walters achieved joint 1st place in the Minor section by scoring 5 out of 6, 4 wins 2 draws.

10/04/08 Ben Marlow won his adjourned game against Barry Smith of Mercia A. Hence, WDCL B team have drew Mercia A match that begun 13/03/08.

08/04/08 BDCL Div 1 A Shirley & Lucas at home, we are 3-1 up with board 1 and 2 adjourned. So we shall at least draw the match and be elevated to at least 9 points in Div 1, 10 if we have achieve a draw on the top boards.

03/04/08 Well what a night! Our unbeaten Dudley league team played Mercia. We'd both won 7 out 7. Board 2 fell to Mercia, board 3 drew, and G Sands won on 1 for us. Unfortunately our heavily outgraded board 4 player lost. BDCL B team beat Northfield Checkmates 4-2 however and are escalated to 15 points and joint top of BDCL Div 4.

01/04/08 Our Dudley league team gain their 7th consecutive match win of the season and their 5th 4-0 score Away at Halesowen.

01/04/08 Mike Townsend's adjourned game result is a draw. Hence, our BDCL Div 1 A team beat Lichfield A 3.5-2.5. Boards 1 to 5 drew, and Bob Khoshnevis board 6's triumph helps secure the win. Well done all. Plus now team have 8 BDCL League points.

28/03/08 Results of 2 adjourned games against S Birmingham C in our match of 10/03/08: Captain Peter Thompson and Bob Khoshnevis won their games but alas giving a 3.5-2.5 match win to the opposition.

27/03/08 Our fight for the B team's survival in WDCL Div 2 bought a slightly weaker than usual Mercia A to Wolverhampton. Keith Bate drew on board 3 against K A J Francis graded 118, Bob Khoshnevis drew against R Price graded 93, Rob Parker beat C Lane graded 85. Hence a 2-3 score and with board 4 adjournment to be decided. In view of this relegation is looking likely for our WDCL B team. Also confirmation that Peter Thompson and Bob Khoshnevis both won their S Birmingham C games. Well done..

26/03/08 Confirmation of two adjourned games being draws from the WDCL Div 1 A team away match against Walsall Kipping gives a 3-3 match draw.Well done to our A team on this match draw and gaining a further league point.

20/03/08 An under strength BDCL A team side played Halesowen and the modified team managed to beat a strong Halesowen team 4-1 with 1 adjournment without our usual board 2 and 3 so a good result. BDCL B team in contrast lost to Solihull 1-4. Our team slightly under strength due to Max and Ben playing for the A team and Jeff Fox being unavailable. This match could adversely effect promotion hopes.

13/03/08 WDCL Div 2 B teams crucial clash bought a strong Walsall team. We were most outgraded on boards 5 and 6 and these boards were conceded to the visiting team. A 2-3 score with 1 adjournment signifies the best we can achieve is a match draw. Peter Thompson drew his adjourned board 1 game against P Wallace of Lichfield for the BDCL Div 1 A team.

12/03/08 Confirmation of a WDCL Div 1 A team match win. Match initially began 14/02/08 and result depended on 2 adjournments. Mike Townsend and Frank Wood won their adjourned games on boards boards 2 and 5 respectively thus winning the match 4-2.

WDCL C team : 06/03/08 Stafford visit with very strong team 06/03/08 match drawn 2.5-2.5. Visiting team is as strong as team we played when we played them Away.

07/02/08 WDCL Div 3 C team draw at Home playing Mercia B.

31/01/08 A and B team in action tonight in different leagues. Our BDCL Div 1 A team lost 3.5-2.5 at Tamworth with a slightly understrength team. WDCL Div 2 B team lose to undefeated league leaders Shifnal & telford with a 2.5-3.5 score.

24/01/08 Duel success for BDCL Div 4 B team 4.5-1.5 playing Birmingham and Dudley league team beat Boldmere St Michael's 4-0 with visitors defaulting board 4.
