About Our Club

The club provides opportunities for playing chess socially and competitively. Wolverhampton Chess Club run teams in the Birmingham, Cannock, Dudley and Wolverhampton leagues. Please various website sections and contact us via contacts page to find out more about the club.  

The Chess Club meets at 7.30 - 11.00pm on Thursdays at Wolverhampton West End Working Men's Club, 71-73 Merridale Street West, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, WV3 ORW. All are welcome irrespective of chess level or aspirations. Play chess socially or more competitive league chess. Juniors and beginners are welcome to attend our club.

Venue: Our club facilities include a spacious, quiet playing area. A licensed bar is on the premises too which is accessible via an adjoining corridor from the playing area.

10  junior member: inclusive of optional ECF Bronze membership

15  Casual/social member. (with option to upgrade for those who prefer social rather than competitive league chess.

Note : Bronze ECF Membership can be upgraded to Silver, Gold, Platinum on request or deducting from subscription if anyone already holds ECF Membership

Pro rata subs throughout the season..


Important:  Anyone can join our club at any time throughout the year, recruitment is continual and fees in such cases are on a pro rata basis.

Note: Anyone can visit a few times for free. No pressure to join. If you like our club you're welcome to become a Wolverhampton Chess Club member.

: Chess in the Park. Has evolved from those many wonderful outdoor chess events at West Park, Wolverhampton

The shows and chess continues at Himley Hall and Park.   

Giant Chess, team chess, books, wooden, historic sets and boards for sale at bargain prices as well as Chess.

Wolverhampton Chess Club will be present at Armed Forces Day .  Himley Hall 26th June 2016.
