About Our Club: AGM Details 2006

Committee Representatives

The Officers appointed at the AGM held 18 May 2006 at West End Working mens Club were as follows:

Chairman - Frank Wood;

Hon Secretary - Barry Lewis;

Hon Treasurer (also Assistant Secretary and Records Secretary) - John Wakelam;

Tournament Secretary - Geoffrey Rosser; and Publicity Officer - Robert Parker.

 Other posts filled were:-
 
Wolverhampton League Captains - A Team - Frank Wood; B Team - Kelvin Jones; and C Team (Steve Wilson)
 
Birmingham League Captains - A Team - Peter I Thompson; B Team - Geoff Rosser

Dudley League Captain - Barry Lewis

Cannock League - Mike Steed (but note Claudio di Tomaso later took up post)

Pittaway Cup Captain - Mike Townsend

Terrill Trophy Captains - Frank Wood and Geoff Rosser

Webmaster - Paul Walters

Proposal passed : Club subscriptions for 2006/7 i.e. £35 for full members and £23 for juniors, unemployed, and pensioners but with a reduction to £30 (full members) and £20 ( juniors, unemployed, and pensioners) where payment is received by 30th June 2006.

Trophies awarded and presented : Geoff Rosser :- W.N.Boydon Trophy, given to the player who scored most highly in the Wolverhampton League.

Geoff Rosser :- Merit Cup, for the most games played for the club last season.

Pete Broomhall won the Summer League trophy for best performance by a Wolverhampton player in last year's Summer League 2004/5.

Mike Griffiths won the trophy for best percentage in matches played for the club.

Rob Parker :- Trophy for 1st place in club Blitz 5 ungraded

Robert Marshall :- Trophy for 1st place in club Blitz 5 graded section.

Paul Walters :- Awarded the Bert Prieste Trophy for player and club member who'd done most to help the club, and for his efforts, chess enthusiasm and endeavours to help and contribute. (More description here and trophy name.)
